Welling S. Hillpot, 86, of Frenchtown, NJ and Ft. Myers, FL, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 26, 2010.

Born November 21, 1923 in Frenchtown, Welling was a lifelong resident there. He graduated from Frenchtown High School. He worked at Visqueen Plastics Co. in Flemington and prior to that, was a co-owner of Hillpot Quality Chicks in Frenchtown. He also owned and operated the Village Apartments in Frenchtown for many years and was a realtor. Welling was a member of the former Frenchtown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and treasurer. He was also an active member and founder of the Church of Palmetto Palms in Ft. Myers, FL. He was a member of the Frenchtown Vol. Fire Co. and the Frenchtown Rescue Squad for 20 years. He was a member of the former Orion Lodge #56 F & AM in Frenchtown and he was an avid bowler.

Son of the late William and Lena Opdyke Hillpot, Welling is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret E. Cole Hillpot, two sons William Hillpot and his wife Michelle of Belvidere, IL and Robert Hillpot and his wife Margaret of Pohatcong Twp., NJ, two daughters Patti Senk and her husband Tom of Manahawkin, NJ and Bonnie Becker and her husband David of Green Lane, PA, a brother Lawrence Hillpot of Tenn. and two sisters Dorothy Schultz of Flagtown, NJ and Lucille Baldwin of Maryland, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Edward Hillpot and a sister Mabel Godown.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday June 6, 2010 at 2 PM at the Frenchtown Presbyterian Church, 4th St., Frenchtown and will be officiated by Pastor Patrick Johnson. Interment will be private at Frenchtown Cemetery. All arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Milford, NJ 08848.
