Jane E. Leonardi

Jane Ellen (Hamerstone) Leonardi, 78, of Forks Township, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, while surrounded by her family after a brave battle with a long-term illness.

Born September 16, 1945, in Phillipsburg, NJ, Jane spent her early childhood in Frenchtown, NJ, and grew up in Springfield, Delaware County, PA. Jane lived in Clinton, NJ for 35 years, before settling in Forks Township, PA in 2001. She graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, PA, and attended Pierce Junior College in Philadelphia, PA. Jane was a proud homemaker who retired as a certified home health aide from Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.

She was a loving wife, caring mother, and an amazing grandmother who was loved by all. Jane’s joy in life were her grandchildren. She spent countless weekends with them on playground swings, making various craft projects, splashing in the pool, and building sand castles on the beach. Jane cared deeply, provided support, and always made time for her family and friends. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She enjoyed spending time during Summer at the Jersey Shore and was an avid reader with a cup of tea and spiced wafer close by. Jane had a natural talent for beautiful floral arrangements that were always on display at her decorated table for family holiday gatherings.

Daughter of late fathers Elmer Hamerstone (1st Lieut 411 AAF Fighter Pilot Squadron, WWII) and Herbert Smith (Sgt US Army, WWII), and mother Virginia (Slack) Hamerstone Smith, Jane is survived by her husband of 58 years, William “Willie” J. Leonardi, her sons Craig Leonardi and his wife Tara of Solebury Township, PA, and Michael Leonardi of Forks Township, PA, her daughter Laura Corrento and her husband Ron of Aston, PA, her brothers James Hamerstone and John Smith, and her seven beloved grandchildren Kerry, Madison, Gabrielle, Cole, Brooke, Sophia, and Gianna. Jane is predeceased by her brother Herbert Hamerstone.

A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ with Rev. William “Tex” Colton officiating. A graveside service will take place immediately following at the Frenchtown Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America at ww.dementiasociety.org, or JDRF at www.jdrf.org, or the Epilepsy Foundation at www.give.epilepsy.com.

Craig, I’m so sorry for the loss of your mother. Though we hate to see our loved ones suffer it is still hard to say good-bye. At least you can take some comfort knowing that she is now at peace. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

My wish for you is that you are not alone in missing your loved one , in grieving their loss . No matter what we do to prepare ourselves, the hole left behind looms large . I hope that you find peace and some comfort when you need it . We remember her and we honor her always . It was my extraordinary honor to be Jane’s friend and caregiver. And I leave you with this . Some days there won’t be a song in your heart, sing it anyway. And we did. Miss you forever your friend TT
