Robert Shive, Jr.

Robert P. Shive, Jr., 65, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Township, NJ.

Born was September 8, 1958 in Lansdale, PA and grew up there. He then lived in California for several years before moving back to Pennsylvania, where he met his beloved husband, Dion. Robert and Dion settled in Holland Township, NJ in 2001. He was a member of his award winning high school marching band, a member of the Philadelphia Boys Choir, and the Singing City Choir of Philadelphia. He also served as choir director for a few years at a church in Delaware. Robert graduated from West Chester University in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. He retired from Giant Supermarkets in New Hope, PA after working as the deli manager at different locations for many years. Robert was an avid reader and especially enjoyed James Patterson novels. He was also an avid sports fan, playing baseball growing up, enjoyed bowling, and loved the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Robert was lovingly referred to as “ET” by many of his friends.

Son of the late Robert P. and Virginia M. (Kelly) Shive, Robert is survived by his sister Dolores Heins and her husband John, his brother James “Jim” Shive, his three nieces, two nephews, as well as many beloved friends. He was predeceased by his beloved husband Dion Hitchings, with whom they spent 20 wonderful years together and would have celebrated 10 years of marriage in May.

Services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
